Sindyanna of Galilee – Nov/Dec 2014 Newsletter

Dear friends of Sindyanna,

Sindyanna of Galilee's management and staff wishes you all the best for the holidays and the new year!

We are optimistic as usual and can't stop hoping for a world where peace and equality are a daily presence in everyone's lives, or at least just a little more than they are these days.

It's hard to believe that 2014 is almost over. The year has been so packed with events, good as well as bad , that it has flown by for us. We hope that next year everyone will see much more of the good and much less of the bad.

First good note for 2015 – we're hard at work getting our new web site ready. You already may have seen some of the design changes on our Facebook page as a prelude to the full site. We'll let you know as soon as it's up and would love to hear what you think of it.

Yours as always,

Hadas Lahav

Harvest Time at Our Olive Groves

Yes, it's that time of year again and our trees were starting to bend over from the weight of the beautiful olives.

Together with many friends and family members, Arabs and Jews alike, we harvested our grove in Roha. We're very excited about the harvest since this is the first time we'll be shipping the wonderful Roha organic olive oil to our customers around the world. It has also passed IMO inspection which allows us to mark it as a Fair for Life product.

At the beginning of November we also harvested the Scottish Grove which, only two years after its planting, has surprisingly produced plenty of olives. The beautiful picture below was taken by the photographers Sonia and Rudy Chaim, who have been dedicated and loyal volunteers for many years. You can view the full photo set from the harvest on their Facebook page.

Sindyanna at the SIAL Paris Food Fair

Hadas Lahav and Dani Ben Simhon represented Sindyanna at SIAL Paris this year. The show was a great success – there was a lot of interest in our products, and we collected many new contacts that can help us get our story heard around the world. We presented our new collection of olive oil varietals for the first time and it drew a lot of interest from our visitors.

Bread and Roses Art Exhibition

We are now getting ready to participate in the Bread & Roses art exhibition which will be held December 27 in Tel Aviv. We've been sponsoring and helping out with the exhibition for the past 9 years as it is for a cause that is near and dear to our hearts.

The exhibition is a demonstration of solidarity between Jews and Arabs, between workers and the unemployed, between artists and women working in agriculture. All proceeds go towards placing Arab women in workplaces, and advancing the WAC-MAAN Women and Work project’s economic, social, and cultural activity.

With your generous assistance, last year’s exhibition succeeded at selling pieces for a grand total of some US$170,000. For more information, visit the exhibition's web site and Facebook page.

Sindyanna Around the World

This time we'd like to thank our friends at CRS (Catholic Relief Services) Fair Trade who wrote about Sindyanna in a recent newsletter:

"In the Holy Land, where the ongoing conflict has cost countless lives, women are often messengers of peace and reconciliation. Usually,Israelis and Palestinians live in separate communities and do not talk to each other. But Michal Zilberberg, an Israeli, and Insaf Arabi, a Palestinian, are two women who are changing that."
