Sindyanna of Galilee – Sept/Oct 2013 Newsletter

Dear friends of Sindyanna,

We have been a bit delayed in sending out this newsletter but all for good reason – we've been very busy getting ready for our first appearance at the Anuga food fair, among many other activities.

The show was a great success – there was a lot of interest in our products, and we collected many new contacts that can help us get our story heard around the world.

We also unveiled our new look & feel, which was designed by the talented designer Anna Svarentzkia. It will soon appear across all our publications and product packaging materials. We'd love to hear what you think of the new design!

Besides the new look & feel, we also showed our new video (directed by Yoram Ron) at Anuga. You can watch it on YouTube to learn more about who we are, what we do and how we do it, and all in two and a half minutes!

Yours as always,
Hadas Lahav

First Harvest at our Roha Organic Olive Grove

Our 50-dunam Roha fair trade organic olive grove is finally ready for harvest. The trees have been growing rapidly despite the hard land and the lack of water, and we're eagerly looking forward to the wonderful olives we'll be collecting there.

The olive oil produced from this harvest will be completely organic and its quality has been certified by the Olive Board. It also passed the IMO inspection which allows us to mark it as a Fair for Life product. Look for the results soon in your olive oil bottle!

Promoting Fair Trade Fair Peace in Italy

Osnat Shperling, Sindyanna's project director for Fair Trade Fair Peace, represented Sindyanna of Galilee in a delegation to Italy together with Suzan Sahori from BFTA (Bethlehem Fair Trade Artisans), the Italian organization COSPE (Co-operation for the Development of Emerging Countries), and volunteers that are helping promote the project in Italy. They visited several cities and counties in Italy to present the project to different audiences and meet with representatives of fair trade stores that are interested in distributing the products.

Weaving Beautiful Baskets at Our Visitor Center

Besides the visitor groups that come to our visitor center almost daily, we also run our regular basket weaving course, which everyone can join. Last month we held a special workshop at WAC-Maan's community garden in Haifa, which was run by Insaf Arabi from our visitor center at Kufr Manda and Michal Zilberberg, a long-time participant in our weaving courses.
