Dear friends of Sindyanna,
Summer has passed and autumn is upon us, which means that this year's olive harvest is fast approaching. A lovely time of year where we get to reap the rewards of all the hard work that has been put into sustaining our olive orchards.
As you can see from the picture below, which was taken earlier today in one of our orchards, the trees are definitely ready for harvesting.
As mentioned in our previous newsletter, we're going to exhibit at SIAL, the world's major agri-food event. So if you or anyone you know are going to be at SIAL (or at least in the Paris area) October 19-23, please stop by our booth (Hall 4 M 020 – Israel pavilion) to say hello!
We're also busy working on our new (and improved) site. We'll let you all know as soon it goes live so you can tell us what you think about it.
Yours as always,
Hadas
Sindyanna's New EVOO Varietal Selection
At SIAL we'll introduce our new selection of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) varietals. You can now choose between the following (a very difficult choice in our opinion!):
• Organic Souri: This lovely oil was awarded the Silver Medal at the BIOL 2014 Competition in Italy. The oil from this locally widespread olive variety, which originated in Lebanon, is rich in texture and flavor. As such, it awakens the palate with gratifying bitterness, indulging pungency and a fruity aroma.
• Barne'a: Recipient of numerous TERRA OLIVO awards, including the Best Barne’a (2011) and the Prestige Gold Medal (2010-2012), this pleasantly bitter and spicy Barne'a EVOO displays a "green" herbaceous aroma and a strong pepper finish with a distinct pungency. Developed in Israel, the Barne'a cultivar has become Israel's flagship olive oil and a must-have Mediterranean staple.
• Coratina: This remarkable olive oil has won multiple awards over the last few years, including five consecutive wins at TERRA OLIVO, culminating with the recent Prestige Gold Award in 2014. With origins in Puglia, Italy, this variety displays complex notes of green apple peel and asparagus that precede pleasant nuances of lingering green chili.
• Arbequina: Originally from Catalonia, Spain, this olive oil varietal displays a smooth, aromatic, and mildly sweet flavor making it a favorite among chefs. It exudes fruity aromas reminiscent of green apple and almonds. The delicate, balanced piquancy is followed by a pleasant aftertaste.
• House Blend: This marvelously complex, well-balanced and fruity house blend is composed of our award winning Barne'a, Coratina and Arbequina cultivars. The wonderful aroma exudes green apple combined with herbal notes of fresh za’atar, thyme, and cinnamon. Light bitterness and pungency provide a strong finish that accompanies the lingering herbal flavor.

Sindyanna at Two Local Events
And last, but certainly not least, we participated in two recent WAC Maan events.
First, we joined a basket weaving event at the Olives Community Garden in Haifa. It was a great event where our team was joined by asylum seekers, friends, neighbors and weaving enthusiasts.
And second, we joined their Bread and Roses weekend, where art work by excellent artists, as well as our own products and gift baskets, were sold at affordable prices with proceeds going to WAC Maan.
